University of Michigan: "Public health benefits of vaping outweigh risks"

The benefits of vaping as a way to quit smoking far outweigh the health risks youths face if they go from electronic to traditional cigarettes, a new study suggests.

An analysis found that in the most likely of several simulations, nearly 3.3 million life-years could be saved by the year 2070.

“I don’t think this paper resolves the argument once and for all. But we have to go with the best evidence available…”

The base simulation takes into account the possible roles of e-cigarettes in both smoking cessation and initiation. It reflects more than 3.5 million life-years gained by using e-cigarettes to quit conventional cigarettes and 260,000 life-years lost due to additional vaping-induced smoking initiation by young people.

“I don’t think this paper resolves the argument once and for all. But we have to go with the best evidence available,” says Kenneth Warner, former dean of the University of Michigan School of Public Health and professor emeritus of public health and professor emeritus of health management and policy. “I believe the case is strong; the benefits outweigh the risks.”

Pretty awesome when an objective research source gives information like this. I truly believe if you eat healthy and have no heart issues, vaping has no health consequences. I've only been vaping since August of 2017, but I feel great and have been in superb health.... I have not even been sick with a cold or the flu. I work outside for at least an hour a day...between weeds and my big garden and watering I have to. Of course, I juice for one meal and then have a salad for another and then a sensible dinner. When I smoked, I would get sick AT LEAST 3 times a year and hack up a lung every morning. Absolutely no coughing now. Take care of and listen to your body and vaping can be a pleasurable, harmless activity. Especially vs. smoking cigarettes.

That said, like the flavors we prefer are so different, so are our bodies. If you exercise, eat smart, and have been vaping for at least a month and feel bad, lower the nicotine. If still feeling bleh, quit vaping and see how you feel. We tend to go to the internet for all our answers instead of basing decisions on our own experiences, feelings, and morals. With vaping, your body is the best indicator of whether it is something you should be partaking in.
